Today is Election Day and at Clearly New Mexico we set out to see what was going on in the community and at the polling sites. Check out the video I just put together of interviews that Tracy Dingmann and myself have conducted today:
Obama speaks with New Mexico tribal leaders

Obama made a surprise visit to the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in Albuquerque last Thursday, September 18th. This was before his scheduled appearance in Española, where an estimated 10,000 people attended. I was able to get down to the IPCC and talk with folks at the event and snap some shots of Obama supporters.

Obama supporters line up on 12th Street

Ali Says: Check out the NMYO VIDEO!

I am continually amazed by the talent around me and the energy that fuels the youth movement of today. As a "not so young person anymore," I am excited that folks like Cyrus Gould and the crew at NMYo are shaking things up in New Mexico and providing a space for young people to engage and make a difference. Cyrus blogged about the NMPowered Retreat this past weekend and the talented group of people who were brought together.

Women & Creativity 2008

In the mist of this exciting time for politics and movement building we need to remember to pay attention to our creative souls. Watching movies, salsa dancing or sitting with a group of friends in our book club has saved me from going crazy on many occasions. Women & Creativity 2008 at the National Hispanic Cultural Center offers this opportunity in the month of March.

I'm making room in my calendar for a few of these great events and I encourage you to do the same. I'm shining my boots and getting ready for Pistolera on March 12th. These ladies (and a guy) rock! I was lucky to see them last year at the historic Golden West Saloon.

You can pick up your booklet at the NHCC, Mark Pardo salons or go to the NHCC website to download the schedule. See ya there!
