As a high school student working and living in a world of adults I know that there are ways to make a change. Right now is a crucial time in the world for young (and I mean high school-aged or younger here) people to get involved. Even though the adults are trying to make a difference, it is the kids who are going to be left with the power to eternalize and propagate the ideas. When we all grow up it will be our responsibility to keep working towards a better world and keep from sliding into the mistakes preceding. I don't think that many kids my age realize the power and the potential that lies at our fingertips. All that needs to be done to help them see this prima facie is a little knowledge. There are so many possibilities that stand in front of today's youth that are just waiting for someone to reach out and grab them.

I feel that it is up to the youth who have already "seen the light" to assist the rest onto the same path of our future. Right now there are so many abilities that we young people have, so many ideas, and so much imagination to make that Change. There is so much to say that I am at a loss for words. If only kids across the globe had a way of communicating I'm sure that spectacular things can happen. Even if kids within a community had a way to foster their ideas and express their feelings greatness, I tell you, would come from it. Every so often there are reports about something amazing that a kid has done. Just imagine. If more kids had the opportunity, resources, and support that they needed what could be possible! The slightest little push or encouragement could lead to an amazing plethora of wonderful ideas.

Reflection

I couldn't agree with you more. The opportunity for young people is great but I do feel like it's us who needs to take the initiative. I too am a high school student, and feel like there are limited excuses for young people not to succeed. I also feel like it's the duty of young people like you and I to get other people our age excited. There are plenty of concerned and frustrated students all across the nation, it's simply a matter of organizing young people and focusing their frustrations into action. It's also important to realize that there has never been success without collaboration between communities. Our community as a whole (meaning man and womankind) can finally begin to move towards effective solutions by taking the experience and knowledge of the old and the energy and new ideas of the young to make solid and real differences in all aspects of our world. Being young is no excuse not to change the world.

It was fun to know everything

I remember knowing everything too, when I was a teen.

Now I am the parent of a teen.

Funny how experience and knowledge detracts from knowing everything.

Ever pay a mortgage?

Well fortunately I don't think I know everything. If that were the case I think the youth of today would be somewhat hopeless. Though I have never paid a mortgage, I have paid quite a bit through going through a similar struggle with my mom. I am the son of a single mother who has barely been able to afford our house payments while trying to go through school and barely being paid enough as an educational assistant, to get us groceries once every few months. Not to mention gas, electric, car payments, water and the hundreds of other essentials. With respect, we all have struggles, especially young people. Frankly it was my background and my families struggle that renews my will to change. Why sit here complaining when you can actually try to problem solve. I encourage you to try and stay optimistic too. Otherwise whats the use?

What I know does NOT come close to being EVERYTHING. And I admit that freely, what I do know is that youth now-a-days need to be optimistic, and like Michael said, not enough adults are. I have never paid mortgage but at 17 I pay 300$ a MONTH rent (living with my mother), pay for laundry and other neccesities I need, by myself. Even though I don't know many kids my age who have to do that I keep a good outlook on life and don't let it faze me. Instead I take it as a blessing in diguise that is preparing me for life when like you, I have a teen of my own. You'd be surprised what some people go through when they are young and still love life to the fullest. Nobody ever knows everything, but experience and knowledge NEVER detract from knowing anything. It can only add. Think about that a little.
