KKOB news anchor Laura MacCallum has resigned after the station pulled stories about an alleged vote-buying scheme to benefit candidates Heather Wilson and Darren White at the recent Bernalillo
County pre-primary nominating convention. The story was pulled after pressure was received by the station from the campaign of U.S. Senate candidate Wilson.
Veteran Albuquerque reporter Dennis Domrzalski breaks the story in his blog this afternoon.
Last week, Domrzalski broke another story about GOP insiders use threats and intimidation to clear the field of candidates who might challenge their favored candidate in the CD1 congressional race, Bernalillo County Darren White.
KKOB-AM, the self-proclaimed "Talk Monster", is the home of right-wing ranters Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage and Bill Cunningham. Clearly New Mexico blogger Parnelli Gonzales posted recently about the unique role KKOB plays in New Mexico as the megaphone for hate spew and GOP talking points - Contemplating Klan Radio.
