On Wednesday, March 26th at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center the Sierra Club launched its new Power 2 Change campaign with the help of representatives from Sacred Power and Albuquerque City Councilor Rey Garduño. Power 2 Change is intended to educate the public about how the environment is at stake in the 2008 elections. It is focused on 9 states and will challenge politicians up and down the ticket in all parties to place the environment at the forefront of the upcoming political campaigns.

“The choices we make in 2008 will define our future, especially when it comes to the election and energy issues,” said Michael Casaus, the Sierra Club’s Southwest Regional Representative. “The contrast could not be sharper – we can move forward to a clean energy economy that creates jobs, save consumers money and solves global warming, or we can continue the expensive, polluting policies of the past.”

Power 2 Change is intended to educate the public about how the environment is at stake in the 2008 elections. It is focused on 9 states and will challenge politicians up and down the ticket in all parties to place the environment at the forefront of the upcoming political campaigns.

"The choices we make in 2008 will define our future, especially when it comes to the election and energy issues," said Michael Casaus, the Sierra Club's Southwest Regional Representative. "The contrast could not be sharper - we can move forward to a clean energy economy that creates jobs, save consumers money and solves global warming, or we can continue the expensive, polluting policies of the past."

The Power 2 Change campaign is hoping to achieve these goals by getting people to sign a clean energy petition and to recruit volunteers to help at events that will be taking place throughout the state from now until Earth Day. "We have the technology, know-how and power to build a clean energy future. What we have lacked is the political will and leadership. We need to challenge all our elected officials, including the next President, to provide the leadership we need to move us forward," said Michael Casaus.
