.... from Dallas Timmons, Ward 11A Chair.

First, the turnout was HUGE. There was never any lull in the voting. This reflects the excitement that the Democrats are feeling this year and bodes very well for our success across the board in the 2008 elections. Most of the volunteers had signed up for 2 hr slots but ended up staying the full time just to keep the line moving.

We ran out of ballots near the end but in spite of these obstacles we kept the line running, got extra ballots before closing time and everyone that stayed thru the line was able to vote. Most people endured no more than a 20 minute wait. I want to acknowledge the voters that were made wait in the school cafeteria while school let out. Those folks waited longer than 20 minutes and did so with some frustration but generally very good attitudes.

Ward 11A unofficial election results:
# ballots cast: 1890 (We had twice the # of ballots cast as in the 2004 election. GREAT TURNOUT!)

Obama: 907
Clinton: 769
Edwards: 12
Richardson: 5
Kucinich: 2
Write in: 1
Uncommitted: 3
Undetermined: 6 (either voted for more than one person or selected "write in" with no name)
Provisional: 185 (these were not counted in our hand count and will be opened and counted once the State Party verifies the voters eligibility.

Great post, OTG. Thanks for a Ward level view of what was a truly amazing turnout by any measure.
